Dawn:
I
wanted to let you know how the training is progressing. But, first and
foremost, to tell you how much training with electronics has improved
the situations where problems existed.
1 . The front door and receiving people into
the house which caused me to anticipate a stressful situation has
settled down to an obedience command at the door and rarely an
electronic correction.
2. Guests moving around in the house after having been seated
obedience command of sit/stay, if necessary. Where Lani was wary
of anyone touching her, she now approaches guests and "allows"
a back rub.
3. Encountering people or dogs on walks no longer involves me turning
around and quickly walking in
the opposite direction. I do, at times, need to use an electronic
correction to remind her of good manners. The correction interrupts
whatever thought process is going on and she responds favorably.
These were the situations that were
stressful and the improvement has been 100% since using the electronic
collar correction. The other training methods that I tried did not
accomplish anything. I would; however, not suggest to anyone to train
with electronics without using a qualified trainer. Your training, which
used obedience commands and electronics, has been the most humane for my
dog. It also did not cause any embarrassment on my part as did training
a 10 pound dog with a choke collar or a prong collar.
Thank you,
